Process (business)Series of transformations during the put through causing an element to change place, form, setting, measurement, function, property or the like.
Process (logistics)A compilation of activities to create or transform a product or service during the put through.

Quality Factor (QF)The percentage of customer satisfaction re the product quality, in relation to the agreed conditions.

Reliability, logistic (Rl)The probability that an installation will perform its intended mission, assuming that the item is used within the conditions for which it was designed, excluding minor failures which can be repaired within one hour by operation level maintenance.
Reliability, operational (Ro)The probability that a system or object will perform in a satisfactory manner for a given period of time when used under specified operating conditions.
Reliability, operational (Ro)The probability that an item of equipment will perform its intended mission without failing, assuming that the item is used within the conditions for which it was designed.

Self-steering TeamA team of professionals having maximum autonomy to achieve their (corporate) objectives.
Service areaAn area in a 2-dimensional space (see figure 2-1) to classify methods and techniques supporting specific management activities in relation to specific life cycle phases.

Service Level Agreement (SLA)A service contract between two (internal) business partners (actors) based on specific terms of delivery, applied within Contract Management.
Status CategoryA specific type of time period which indicates the life cycle phase or operational state of the asset.
Suitability (Capability)A measurement (%) of the extent to which the installation is physically capable of meeting the requirements.
Supportability Analysis (SA)An iterative analytical process by which the logistic support necessary for a new (or modified) system is identified and evaluated. (note: the principles and concepts associated with SA are not new and have been covered in the Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Maintenance Engineering Analysis (MEA), Maintenance Level Analysis (MLA), Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), Maintenance Engineering Analysis Record (MEAR), Maintenance Analysis Data System (MADS) etc.)
SupportabilityAbility to perform the tasks, actions and activities to provide operational, logistics, and asset material management support.
SurvivabilityThe capability of a system to avoid or withstand a hostile environment without suffering an abortive impairment of its ability to accomplish its designated mission.
SustainabilityThe probability that a system can sustain the performances in a satisfactory manner for a given period of time when used under specified operating conditions.
System EffectivenessA quantitative measure (%) of the extent to which a system can be expected to meet the operational needs and requirements.
System FunctionalityThe ability of a system to fulfill the operational need.
System(s)A nucleus of elements combined in such a manner as to accomplish a function in response to an identified need. A system may vary in form, fit and structure. When appropriate, systems can be distinguished from each other by the use of a prefix e.g. 'technical' systems (specifically used for capital assets), 'organizational' systems, 'information' systems, 'management' systems, 'accounting' systems, etc..
Systems EngineeringThe application of scientific and engineering efforts to:
a) transform an operational need into a description of system performance parameters and a system configuration through the use of an iterative process of definition, synthesis, analysis, design optimization, test and evaluation;
b) integrate related technical parameters and ensure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces in a manner that optimizes the total system definition and design;
c) integrate reliability, maintainability, , supportability, producibility, disposability ,safety, human factors etc. into the total engineering effort in order to meet cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
Systems Support EngineeringSystems Engineering focused on the operational phase to achieve the specified operational need through the required system functionality during the whole utilization phase of the system.

TailoringThe activity to focus and program the products and services that will have the greatest effect on the overall cost-effectiveness of an asset.
Technical functionA functional quality of an installation (technical system component) to realize or support an operational function.
TechniqueA well-known, specified way of working or treatment to execute an activity or process.
TestabilityA design characteristic that allows the status (operable, inoperable, or degraded) of an item to be determined and the isolation of faults to be performed in a timely manner.
TimeThe universal measure of duration. The general word 'time' will be modified by an additional term when used in reference to operating time, mission time, etc..

Time, ActiveThe time during which a functional package (system or installation) is in an operational inventory.
Time, MissionThat part of Active Time or Up Time required to perform a stated mission profile.
Time, Up (Uptime)That part of Active Time during which a system component is in a condition to perform its required function(s).
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)A Japanese concept involving an integrated, top-down, system life cycle approach to maintenance with the objective of maximizing productivity. It is based on the principle that equipment improvement must involve everyone in the organization, from operators to top management.



What-If dataAssumed or predicted data entered in AMICO to study the effects with regard to what-if analysis.


Year PeriodA specific (time) period in the life cycle of an asset during which it exists/operates in a status category not exceeding a (financial) calendar year.
